Thomas Alabaster, Sand casting fish

About me

I have always found artistic inspiration in the tranquil beauty of East Anglia. Growing up in the fields, woods and coves of Suffolk has given me a deep love of the complexity and wonder of the natural world, which I try to convey through my sculpture.

I learned the craft of bronze casting from my father in his foundry outside of Halesworth, where the smell of wax and plaster hold fond memories for me. Here many years after doing my apprenticeship I’m now casting my own work using the same lost wax process.

Drawn to the serenity of the coastal landscape, my sculptures of fish reflect a deep-rooted appreciation for the rhythms of marine life. My work serves as a quiet celebration of the our coastal waters, inviting viewers to note the captivating intricacy of the sea.
